Vote for a ban on drilling for oil off Lofoten, Vesterålen and Senja! Norway has already invested 1 billion and 10 years in investigations into and studies of the consequences of oil exploration and production off Lofoten, Vesterålen and Senja. Environmental scientists unanimously warn against such activity because their work reveals that this area is exceptionally valuable and especially vulnerable to pollution. An accident will have enormous consequences for the natural environment in both the Norwegian Sea and the Barents Sea, and thus for jobs and the people who are dependent on unpolluted waters, fish and other renewable resources. All countries must share the responsibility for reducing climate gas emissions in order to avoid dangerous climate change. A positive Norwegian measure to combat climate change would be to leave the oil and gas under the seabed off Lofoten, Vesterålen and Senja untouched.
It is for this reason that climate and the environment are important for Folkeaksjonen
We have relied on the fish in the sea for over 1,000 years. If we protect Lofoten, Vesterålen and Senja we can continue to do so for at least another 1,000.

Norge har allerede brukt 1 milliard og over 10 år på å finne fakta og utrede konsekvenser av oljeboring utenfor Lofoten, Vesterålen og Senja. Samtlige miljøforskere advarer mot oljeboring her fordi forskningen viser at området er særlig verdifullt og sårbart for oljeforurensning.
Ei ulykke her vil ha store konsekvenser for naturen i Norskehavet og Barentshavet og dermed også for arbeidsplassene og folkene som er avhengige av rent hav, fisk og de fornybare ressursene.
Alle land må ta ansvar for å redusere sine klimagassutslipp for å unngå farlige klimaendringer. Et godt norskt klimatiltak er å la oljen og gassen ligge i de verdifulle havområdene utenfor Lofoten, Vesterålen og Senja.
